Experience
Hi! My name is Ritvik, and I will be studying Applied & Computational Mathematics and Computation & Neural Systems at California Institute of Technology (Caltech). My work at the Max Planck Florida Institute of Neuroscience, the only Max Planck institute in the U.S, allowed me to explore my interests in computational neuroscience, more specifically in discovering the relationship between social behavior and neural activity. Through my research experience across my four years of high school, I have been able to extend my expertise in various programming languages such as Python, C++, and MATLAB. My primary extracurricular was spurred on by my desire to help students learn, and this was manifested through my US Chemistry Olympiad solutions initiative, the inception of the Student Delegates Integration Bee, and the spearheading of machine learning workshops in South Florida. I have worked as an undergraduate researcher in neural computation and other computational modeling labs at FAU. In the research field, I have published a paper on convolutional neural networks to a prestigious conference (IEEE SSCI 2021), where I was an oral speaker. Later that year, I was also invited to review and comment on papers submitted to an equally prestigious venue called the IEEE Internet of Things Journal. Some of my main academic awards have revolved around my competitive spirit, including USACO Gold and AIME qualification, as well as the competitive programming club I started. I have always found my calling in teaching, and I hope to shed some light from an academia perspective to my extracurriculars should I be your mentor!
