Experience
Mentor’s academic background: Materials Science and Engineering wth a concentration in biomaterials at Johns Hopkins University. My main extracurriculars in high school that helped with my college applications were the National Honor Society (NHS), varsity and junior varsity track and soccer, and research/shadowing. I was president of NHS during my senior year, where I founded the first ever schoolwide tutoring program, with the program designed to aid students in almost every class at my high school. I also conducted research at the South Carolina Nephrology and Hypertension Center in conjunction with shadowing two surgeons at the partnering Dialysis Access Institute. In college, I was a tutor for Introductory Chemistry I & II, as well as Organic Chemistry I. Moreover, I served on the advisory board for the tutoring program, ensuring that the program was run as efficiently and effectively as possible. I also was a research assistant at the Translational Tissue Engineering Center at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute
