Atmosphere and The Effect on Living Organism

Xiaofei

The Atmosphere in which similar to a shelter protecting our home, without it every living organism will be leading to the ways of extinction. In above or bottom of the atmosphere, there are air molecules, nitrogen, water, Carbon dioxide, or ozone. Each of these molecules enable living organisms to stay alive and build up a stable Ecosystem. Although have you had the ideas occur in your mind of how this atmosphere has the energy to protect Earth from the emitted radiation of heat from Sun, and outer space unknown molecules. On the other hand, understood the important factor that enable our living organism adapted and survive in Planet.

Watching the broad blue sky through your window, or observing when steeping outside in nature, you would not see every single molecule of oxygen because those are invisible. But it was Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, and argon who enable our cells and body system to stay active. In based on scientific analysis, our atmosphere contains 20.96 percent of Oxygen(O2), 78.08 percent of Nitrogen, 0.04 percent carbon dioxide, and 0. 93 percent of Argon. These three elements are the common gas that exists on Earth.

Commonly we understand the common fact of the atmosphere. On the similar side, the Earth atmosphere was separated into five main layers based on the lower ground to higher layer for troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere. This was based on temperature, air pressure, and height.

In simple understanding on each layer, I would begin on the lowest layer in Earth, which was troposphere. The troposphere contains about 75 percent of the air from the atmosphere, where the distance between ground level to air was 5 to 9 miles.

Moving on to stratosphere, start calculating its height from above troposphere to end of stratosphere which it was 31 miles. This layer was extremely important in protecting harmful UV rays from the sun that could constantly cause skin cancer. And an interesting fact, airplane commonly fly in these levels!

Then moving on to the next, mesosphere height measure begins above stratosphere to end of mesosphere, in which scientists find out was 53 miles height. Also, these layers are minus 130 degrees Fahrenheit which is considered the coldest part of Earth.

Moving on, thermosphere was the fourth layers in Earth atmosphere, the height measure from end of mesosphere to end of thermosphere was 372 miles. The word thermos in this word can be refer to as heat, which this layer was known as the hotter heating rate caused by the absorption of UV radiation from the suns and part of X-rays emissions.

Finally, the exosphere as the last layers in the atmosphere of measure of 6200 miles (about 9977.93 km) from end layers of thermosphere. The exosphere commonly contains widely dispersed hydrogen and helium particles. Each layer has its own definition on protecting atmosphere, and its own number of particles enable living organisms to have stable Ecosystems.

As we know, stratosphere are the layers that specialize in protecting UV radiation from the suns. And the key facts are that it is the main layers which decrease the level of UV radiation in the atmosphere. Stratospheres contain the ozone layers; these layers absorb most of the violet radiation and then reflect its radiation back into space. Without this layer, when the UV radiation reached our living organisms skin, or outer part of their body it would cause sunburn, increase levels of skin cancer, blind eye disease, and premature aging. Knowing the main fact of stratosphere is the importance of preventing UV radiation, this would decrease percentage of living things get in contact most high percent of UV rays.

The protection of Earth would be a hundred percent of the atmosphere. The layers of troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere allow living organisms to live in a stable environment which allows them to be adapted to the temperature, and especially for the UV radiation. Without the layers of stratosphere, UV radiation would damage human skin health, destroy the plant abilities of photosynthesis to convert carbon dioxide to oxygen. As known atmosphere could only be seen outer space, although it's still visible to our eye on the sky observation.
