Lab assistant in a research laboratory that studies mechanisms of joint injury in osteoarthritis. The candidate must have the ability to work with other laboratory personnel, follow directions, have good work ethics, be reliable, and dependable. Experimental work to include rodent handling and behavioral assays from animal models of osteoarthritis. Tissues will be dissected, collected and utilized for histological sectioning, staining, imaging and analysis. The candidate should be able to perform routine laboratory maintenance and duties for research activities.
Typical duties include: preparing solutions and media; keeping supplies stocked for laboratory use; cleaning glassware and prepare for autoclaving; use of autoclave for sterilizing laboratory items; maintaining tissue culture incubators and autoclaving waste; animal husbandry; histology; photomicroscopy and ImageJ analysis of microscope imaging; aquisition and organization of data; some remote data organization and analysis is possible.
Requirements
Background in science preferred
Able to work with other laboratory personnel, follow directions, have good work ethics, be reliable, and dependable
Able to perform routine laboratory maintenance and duties for research activities
The advanced candidate will be readily assigned higher levels of responsibilities utilizing advanced techniques.
